Sowing & Reaping | Don’t Give Up Sowing Good Seed

Sowing & Reaping Week4: Don’t Give Up Sowing Good Seed

Galatians 6:9, Galatians 5, Romans 6

January 26th, 2026

Galatians 6:9 NIVLet us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Big Idea: Don’t give up sowing good seed, a harvest is waiting!

Galatians 5:16,17 (AMP) 16 But I say, walk habitually in the [Holy] Spirit [seek Him and be responsive to His guidance], and then you will certainly not carry out the desire of the sinful nature [which responds impulsively without regard for God and His precepts]. 17 For the sinful nature has its desire which is opposed to the Spirit, and the [desire of the] Spirit opposes the sinful nature; for these [two, the sinful nature and the Spirit] are in direct opposition to each other [continually in conflict], so that you [as believers] do not [always] do whatever [good things] you want to do.

Soil #1 is our old sin nature.

Soil #2 is the Spirit of God nature.

We are all born with soil #1. This is the bad news of the gospel.

Jesus was planted into the ground and resurrected. This is the Good news of the Gospel.

Why does soil #2 still have pulling power after salvation?

1) We still live in a fallen world and have a real enemy bent on our destruction.

2) The longer our sin run, the deeper our sin rut. The deeper the rut, the stronger the pull.

Life Lesson: Surrender to Jesus and get out of your ruts as soon as you can. The longer you run in a rut, the more it impacts your life downstream.

Galatians 5:19-21 (AMP) 19 Now the practices of the sinful nature are clearly evident: they are sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality (total irresponsibility, lack of self-control), 20 idolatry, sorcery, hostility, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions [that promote heresies], 21 envy, drunkenness, riotous behavior, and other things like these. I warn you beforehand, just as I did previously, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Nothing good can come from bad seeds, no matter the condition of the soil.

Romans 6:11-23 (NIV) 11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. 12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. 13 Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. 14 For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.

Galatians 5:22-25 (AMP) 22 But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature together with its passions and appetites. 25 If we [claim to] live by the [Holy] Spirit, we must also walk by the Spirit [with personal integrity, godly character, and moral courage—our conduct empowered by the Holy Spirit].

When we plant a fruit seed into someone else’s life, that seed will produce fruit in both their life and ours!

First Principle of the Harvest: You reap what you sow.

Third Principle of the Harvest: You reap more than you sow.

Walking by the Spirit looks like…

  • Producing fruit in keeping with repentance.

  • Living with personal integrity, Godly character and moral courage.

Both are empowered by the Holy Spirit.

The power of life is in a seed.

Galatians 6:9 NIVLet us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Why is planting good seeds hard?

1. We live in a fallen world with a real enemy.

2. Our old nature tries to pull us back into old ruts.

3. The commitment to discipline and process are becoming extinct. Sowing and reaping is long obedience in the same direction.

1. Don’t give up on The Seed.

Mark 4:26-29 (NIV) 26 … “This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. 27 Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. 28 All by itself the soil produces grain—first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head. 29 As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come.”

You don’t have to know how God does what He does. You only have to have faith to believe what God did, God still does! Don’t give up on Jesus. He’s the seed that will lead you to a life more and better than you ever dreamed.

2. Don’t give up on your “good” seeds of obedience.

Living the Christian life isn’t hard, it just isn’t natural. Aligning our will and ways to God is the seed we plant; the harvest is the supernatural work of God! Don’t give up on the power of long obedience in the same direction. Walking in the Spirit will harvest personal generational transformation.

3. Don’t give up on yourself.

God’s grace is amazing! He will produce a long-lasting legacy in any life surrendered to Him.

  1. Jump your rut.

  2. Change your soil.

  3. Plant good seed.

  4. Don’t give up!
