Zaccheus Sermon

Scriptures

Mark 10:21-22  Then, looking at him, Jesus loved him and said to him, “You lack one thing: Go, sell all you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me.” 22 But he was stunned at this demand, and he went away grieving, because he had many possessions.

Luke 18:24 Seeing that he became sad, Jesus said, “How hard it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!

Mark 10:29-31 “I assure you,” Jesus said, “there is no one who has left house, brothers or sisters, mother or father,  children, or fields because of Me and the gospel, 30 who will not receive 100 times more, now at this time—houses, brothers and sisters, mothers and children, and fields, with persecutions—and eternal life in the age to come. 31 But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”

Luke 19:1-2  He entered Jericho and was passing through. 2 There was a man named Zacchaeus who was a chief tax collector, and he was rich

Luke 19:3  He was trying to see who Jesus was, but he was not able because of the crowd, since he was a short man.

Genesis 2:18  Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper as his complement.”

Luke 19:5  When Jesus came to the place, He looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down because today I must stay at your house.”

Romans 11:5-6  In the same way, then, there is also at the present time a remnant chosen by grace. 6 Now if by grace, then it is not by works; otherwise grace ceases to be grace.

Romans 3:23-24  For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. 24 They are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

Luke 19:6  All who saw it began to complain, “He’s gone to lodge with a sinful man!”

Luke 19:8  “Look, I’ll give half of my possessions to the poor, Lord! And if I have extorted anything from anyone, I’ll pay back four times as much!”

Luke 19:9-10  “Today salvation has come to this house,” Jesus told him, “because he too is a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save the lost.”

Matthew 5:44-45  I tell you, love your enemies[x] and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. For He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
