Sermon Notes

2 Timothy 1:7 (Amplified)

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control].

Ephesians 6:10-12 (NIV)

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

John 10:10

…the thief comes to steal kill and destroy.

1 Peter 5:8

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

You can’t muscle your way through a spiritual fight and you can’t outthink your way through a spiritual fight you have stay in Christ and pray your way through a spiritual fight.

1 John 4:4 (Amplified)

Little children (believers, dear ones), you are of God and you belong to Him and have [already] overcome them [the agents of the antichrist]; because He who is in you is greater than he (Satan) who is in the world [of sinful mankind].

Proverbs 18:17

In a lawsuit the first to speak seems right, until someone comes forward and cross-examines.

verse 11

…so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

Diabolou???

2 questions to ask yourself to help you identify what Satan will be scheming against

  1. In what way do I pose the biggest threat to the enemy and his purposes?
  2. What are my flesh’s weaknesses, tendencies and innate passions?

How do you beat a diabolic scheme?

1. Know your trigger.

James 4:7

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

2. Build Boundaries.

Ephesians 6:13-14a

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist,

3 Truth Wins

  1. Truth Stabilizes

  2. Truth Secures

  3. Truth Sets You Free

John 8:31-32

To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Q: How do I put on the Belt of Truth?

A: You put on the Belt of Truth by trusting God, by acting upon the Truth you already know and by letting those wins draw you deeper into relationship with Him.
